To legislatively consolidate the new form of inheritance, a new article appeared in the Civil Code (Civil Code) - 1140.1 (entered into force in June 2021 through the Federal Law of 2021 No. 217-FZ). It defines the concept of an inheritance contract and the regulations for its operation. The article contains the conditions for signing the inheritance agreement, indications of its content, features of termination and amendment, etc.
217-FZ also amended Parts 1, 4 of Art. 256 of the Civil Code, which now allows the possibility of signing inheritance agreements.
