It happens like this: we see a profitable air ticket and rush to buy it before the promotion ends or the site collapses under the pressure of budget travelers. In a hurry, you can make an annoying typo or completely forget about your new name. After all, the prospect of flying to a distant country for the price of dinner in a restaurant makes your head spin.

We tell you how to avoid mistakes when issuing an air ticket and what to do if your hand still trembles.

Possible reasons for exchanging a ticket

You can exchange a train ticket in several cases:

  • The destination remains the same. But the departure date and time change;
  • An adult is required in lieu of a child ticket;
  • Need to change class of service;
  • The passenger wishes to travel in a different seat on the same flight.

Regardless of the reason for the exchange, in 2021 the ticket holder will be charged a commission of 203 rubles 50 kopecks. This tariff applies to any changes made to the parameters of the itinerary receipt, regardless of their type (electronic or paper).

If you bought a ticket through an intermediary company, an additional transaction fee may be assigned to the amount of the standard commission when exchanging through the same company.

To exchange a ticket for a Russian Railways train, you will have to visit the ticket office at the station. Tickets cannot be exchanged online. However, if you do not have time for the offline procedure, you can return your e-ticket on the website and purchase a new one.

Difficulty arises when paying for a travel pass with a bank card. It is impossible to exchange such documents, since changes are not allowed in the receipt, and transfers to the account take a lot of time, which may not be enough before departure.

Those who have expressed a desire to reissue a plane ticket for another person must remember that federal legislation provides for some situations in which it is possible to make adjustments to the travel document without any additional payments or penalties.

According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, you can change a person on an air ticket without charging fines in the following cases:

  • the occurrence of a serious illness for which flights are prohibited - must be confirmed by a doctor’s certificate;
  • the death of a close relative, because of which, for example, a person remains, but someone else will fly for him - this is detailed in Art. 108 VK RF.

You can return a ticket without paying fines or losing part of the transferred amount in case of a flight delay or cancellation altogether.
Additional reasons include unauthorized changes by airline employees to a passenger's class of service. It must be remembered that the specified compelling reasons, according to the rules of law, must be supported by documentary evidence. You should contact us to make changes to the purchased ticket or to reissue it no later than the completion of check-in for the flight.

How to change a Russian Railways ticket for another date

The procedure is possible if two basic conditions are met:

  • The purchase was made through the station ticket office;
  • The ticket was paid in cash.

To exchange, you need to go to the railway station payment point and present your passport and paper ticket for exchange. The employee will print out an application form where you will need to indicate the desired date of travel.

After signing the application, the old ticket is returned and a new one is received for the desired date, provided that there are available seats. Returned travel tickets cannot be restored, since they are returned for sale within 4-5 hours after the exchange procedure has been completed.

Rules for exchanging air tickets for another date

Global aviation companies allow the exchange of tickets for other dates, but it should immediately be noted that such operations are carried out under certain conditions regulated by the current rules of the carrier.

  1. Without significant problems and additional payments, you can change your ticket to Business and Premium class fares.
  2. Exchange of cheap tickets is carried out after payment of the fine provided for in the carrier's rules.
  3. Preferential fares and tickets purchased at a discounted price (promotional offer), classified as non-refundable, cannot be exchanged solely at the request of the passenger. This service is valid only in case of forced reasons for canceling a flight.

A ticket can only be replaced if there are available seats on the selected flight.

If you had a need to change the departure date, check with representatives of the carrier company whether such a service is included in the tariff of the purchased ticket and under what conditions such an exchange can be made.

How to change a train ticket on the Russian Railways website

You can also use the online functionality, but in this case it will not be an exchange, but a return. The money for the returned document will be credited to your account after verification by the site administration, and the new ticket will have to be paid for online again.

Ticket refund policies vary depending on the type of train. While on regular trains it is possible to return one ticket out of several in a group, on Sapsan you will have to return all 4 tickets in the meeting compartment, the same with the compartment of a luxury international carriage.

It will not be possible to return a ticket online if you have already received a paper version of the ticket at the ticket office or station terminal. When registering electronically, you must return your ticket at least an hour before the train departs from the boarding station.

If returned to the account from which the payment was made, the funds will be returned. The amount is determined by the deadline for submitting the document:

  • 8 hours before the train departure – the price of the ticket and reserved seat;
  • 2-8 hours before departure – full fare and 50% of the reserved seat price;
  • 1-2 hours before departure, only the ticket price is refunded.

If you paid for any services (for example, linen), then this money will be returned in full.

If we are talking about a “non-refundable tariff”, then it cannot be exchanged or returned except for the following situations:

  • Serious illness or injury in a passenger or his close family member (doctor's certificates must be provided no later than the 5th day after train departure);
  • Flight delay or cancellation.

Also, during the difficult epidemiological situation in Russia, special conditions apply. Any tickets, including those purchased through a cashier, can be returned electronically or by calling 8-800-775-00-00. From June 2, the usual return conditions apply (a fee of 210 rubles 60 kopecks is charged).

About the possibility of re-registration

It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that today not all airlines are ready to provide the service of reissuing a ticket for another person. This is largely due to the fact that citizens who have bought a ticket for themselves are essentially signing an agreement to organize transportation.

The official document confirming this transaction is considered to be a ticket. In addition, it contains the full initials of the passenger on a particular flight.

Based on this fact, we can talk about a rather difficult process of re-issuing a purchased ticket. For this reason, the most common option to solve the problem that has arisen is considered to be a full refund, and after that a purchase, only for another person.

Important! The best solution would be to personally contact the company from which you previously purchased the ticket. Each airport has a representative office.

If you wish, you can contact the ticket office directly. However, in any case, you must have a document identifying the person with you.

The procedure for rebooking or canceling a reservation is quite quick and rarely takes more than 5 minutes. However, the return of funds, in case of surrender, entails the need to wait a long time for the return of money. On average, this will take up to 3 weeks.

After completing the cancellation procedure, the person for whom it was planned to re-register can simply buy it.

At the same time, do not forget that low-cost airlines have slightly different rules and procedures.

Let’s say that it provides services for reissuing tickets for other people, but the cost is 5 thousand rubles. If necessary, reschedule boarding to another date – 3 thousand rubles.

A passenger who has paid for a Russian Railways ticket has the right to subsequently change his seat in the carriage or choose a different class of service. It is also possible to “move” into a compartment. The procedure is no different from exchanging for another date.

If the purchase was made online, you can make changes on the website or at the checkout. Paper tickets can only be exchanged at the station. In this case, you need to have time to make all changes at least one day before departure.

If the conditions say that such a procedure is not prohibited, then you can change the ticket in various ways:

  1. It is best to go to your personal account on the website where you made the reservation. You need to enter all the requested data in separate fields and select from the available flights the flight for which you want to make an exchange. If an additional fee is charged for such a service, then you should have a certain amount of money in your account.
  2. You can contact the hotline of the carrier that will operate the flight you have chosen, or the website support service and ask to make changes over the phone.
  3. Even when registering and purchasing a ticket online, you can change the date to a more suitable one at the airport ticket office. Then you will have to present documents confirming your identity, for example, an internal or international passport and an electronic version of the itinerary receipt.

  • purchased air ticket for a specific flight;
  • funds in an amount that will be quite sufficient to cover the costs of the procedure for making changes or a complete re-registration.

If you purchase a ticket online online, the re-issuance procedure is carried out in a similar way - you need to write to the service support service and inform about the need to make changes to the personal data of the person indicated on the document.

The standard procedure in this case includes:

  1. Submitting a request to the service support team using the feedback form.
  2. There is an additional fee for making changes.
  3. Printing or saving an electronic ticket to your phone for presentation at the airport.

Which train tickets cannot be exchanged?

The following categories of Russian Railways travel documents are not subject to exchange:

  • Route receipts without a seat (summer discount passes for children);
  • Electronic tickets that have been registered for an international destination;
  • Tickets purchased in other countries;
  • Online tickets paid from another country using foreign bank cards.

Children's tickets cannot be exchanged for adults, and passengers cannot be completely changed - to do this, you will have to return the ticket and buy a new one.
