Marriage stamp in the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation in 2021
According to current legislation, it is impossible to completely abandon the stamp on the identity card of a citizen of the Russian Federation. Its affixing is provided for by the relevant articles of the “Regulations on the Passport of a Citizen of the Russian Federation” and government regulations. This also includes the regulations for the procedure for state registration of relations.
There are marks that are placed at the request of the citizen.
Blood type and Rh factor. This stamp is placed in clinics at the place of residence or at blood transfusion stations. To do this, you need to contact the reception of a medical institution and take a test to determine your blood type and Rh factor. After receiving the test results, medical workers stamp your passport. This is what pages 18 and 19 of the document are for.
When replacing a passport, this mark can only be placed in a medical institution. It is not necessary to put a stamp in your passport, since no one will take it into account. If you need a blood transfusion, including urgently, doctors will always do a rapid test and determine your blood type on the spot. Data from the patient’s words and from the passport will not be trusted.
The current legislation of the Russian Federation states that an individual does not have the right to completely refuse the stamp on an identity card. The affixing of the above stamp is provided for by certain articles of the “Regulations on the Passport of a Citizen of the Russian Federation” and decrees of the Government of the Russian Federation.
It should be noted that there are situations when newlyweds cannot fulfill the above rule due to objective circumstances:
- The passport is full, as a result of which there is no space for putting the appropriate mark;
- If the identity card is lost and the individual is waiting for a new one.
In the above situations, employees of the civil registry office do not have the right to refuse the newlyweds to accept an application for marriage registration. Responsibility for the decision presented, whether a stamp can be affixed or not, is taken by the head of the department to which the future spouses applied.
Marriage stamp on the children page
After replacing your passport, it will not contain a marriage stamp. There is no stamp indicating its termination; the page will be blank unless you ask to include this information.
The application submitted before marriage must be written and joint. The traditional way of filing is in person at the registry office.
After submitting the documentation and making a positive decision to quickly conduct the marriage, the issue becomes resolved. Marriage can be registered on the day of application. The wedding ceremony promises to be simple and quick.
The procedure for replacing the passport of a Russian citizen in the event of entering inaccurate, incomplete or erroneous information into it is determined by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation dated December 28, 2006.

What stamps can be put on a Russian passport?
Article number 158 of the Family Code of the Russian Federation states that a marriage between a citizen of Russia, as well as a citizen of the Russian Federation with a stateless individual or a foreigner outside the country, but in compliance with the legislation of the state in which registration takes place, is recognized as valid on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is only possible in a situation where the circumstances provided for in Article No. of the Family Code of the Russian Federation that prevent the registration of such marriages are absent.
If employees of any enterprises express doubts about the mandatory affixing of a stamp on marriage registration on an identity card, then the citizen has the right to submit this question to the court.
It should be remembered that the procedure carried out above is considered valid in Russia if the citizen has an official marriage registration certificate obtained abroad. In addition, he will need to obtain a legally certified translation of this document with an apostille. The marriage certificate is certified at the consulate. An apostille is also affixed to the represented organization. The consul is obliged to carry out the above actions in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Apostille Convention.
Family registration can take place in the following places:
- In civil registration authorities. A stamp is immediately placed in the designated place;
- In places of detention. In the presented situation, the affixing of a stamp depends on the rules established in the above location;
- Outside the Russian Federation. In this situation, no stamp is affixed.
You should change your passport at special departments of the migration service. It is recommended to contact the FMS branch at your place of registration.
If a citizen of the Russian Federation does not have the above opportunity, then he can change his identity card at the Multifunctional Center of the Russian Federation. According to Russian regulations, it is possible to change your passport after marriage has been registered.
The legislation of the Russian Federation states that when replacing an old identity card with a new one, the stamp on registration of marriage relations must be transferred. You should also proceed in the indicated manner in a situation where the passport contains information about children. Based on the above information, we conclude that when replacing an identity card, all information from the old document is transferred to the new passport.
The imprint is affixed immediately after signing the documents at the registry office (marriage or divorce). If at this moment there was no opportunity for these actions, then the stamp is placed immediately after any opportunity for this appears.
When receiving a new passport, the deadline lasts from 10 working days. Often no more than 30 days after submitting documents.
There is no charge for stamping. Citizens pay only the amount of the state fee (for marriage or divorce).
To affix a stamp, you only need a passport (for the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation, a marriage or divorce certificate is also required).
The law allows the submission of an application and additional papers through the MFC.
Features of the procedure
The law also spells out legal situations in which difficulties may arise.
If a citizen is in another city during the marriage or divorce procedure, then it is necessary to solve the problem at the place of his actual location. A man or woman needs to contact the nearest registry office.
Authorized employees do not have the right to send a citizen to another city or region for such a purpose.
Why to affix a stamp when replacing a passport is specified in the law (No. 109-FZ). Any reason (theft, loss, reaching a certain age) is the basis for such actions.
The importance of this seal indicates its mandatory presence on pages 14 and 15 of the identity document. Employees of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation are required to affix it by machine, as well as a stamp of permanent registration at the place of residence.
If refused, you can file a complaint with the head of the department or police authority in connection with a violation of the law. Penalties (including disciplinary and financial liability) will be applied to the guilty official.

Is a marital status stamp required in a passport?
Please tell me if anyone knows. We got married in Denmark, the wife returned to Russia, she went to the registry office with a certificate of marriage registration in Denmark (translated into Russian) to put a stamp in the passport about her marital status. They answered that they don’t do it and the registry office employee doesn’t know who can do it. QUESTION: Do you even need this stamp in your passport for family reunification?
We recommend reading: Benefits for disabled people 3g namoto insurance in Kazakhstan
I set myself this on the same basis. But there was almost no point in this - the stamp is put in the general passport, during family reunification no one needs it - they will look at the marriage certificate. I put more for local nuances. And he put it not in the registry office, but in the migration service, they have a stamp for this. A year later, the junior researcher was verified in the same way.
Why do you need a stamp in your passport for marriage registration?
According to the law of the Russian Federation, you cannot refuse to affix the obligatory stamp. There are exceptional cases in which, after official registration in the registry office, it is impossible to affix a stamp:
- A citizen has lost his identity document and is applying for another one.
- No space for imprint (glue required).
- if a citizen is serving time in prison.
The court allows you to put an imprint on the cover of the document or make an insert yourself in accordance with legal norms.
Any mark on a personal identity card is made only by authorized bodies. Making entries yourself is against the law. Such a document loses legal force and requires replacement. According to paragraph 5 of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of July 8, 1997 N 828, a stamp in the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation about marriage is affixed to:
- In the Civil Registry Office.
The legislator does not provide for administrative liability for the absence of a stamp on the certificate. If there is no mark, a marriage certificate must be provided as proof of marital status. Since this document is usually located at home, this is not always convenient.
Some citizens try to hide the fact of marriage in this way. However, the absence of a mark does not give a citizen the right to register another marriage. This is a direct violation of Article 14 of the RF IC. Such a union will be considered invalid.
In practice, there are rarely cases when citizens do not have a stamp in their passport confirming their marriage.

During official registration, the stamp is affixed by the registry office employees themselves. At the same time, they use a registered stamp with all the necessary inscriptions. The use of any other sample is strictly prohibited. The same procedure applies to divorce.
In case of loss, theft or simple replacement of a passport, employees of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation have the right to make an imprint by machine. It will have the same legal force.
Lack of space to print marriage
Irina, no, they cannot refuse to register a marriage for this reason. They must either put a sewn-in insert into the passport, or require its replacement after registering the marriage. Moreover, marriage is confirmed by a marriage certificate, and not a stamp in the passport. All the best!

Judicial practice recognizes that the presence of a mark on marriage registration on the cover of a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation or on another page does not indicate the invalidity of such a passport, since, by virtue of clause 6. of the Regulations, the invalidity of a passport entails only the entry of information, marks or entries, not provided for by these Regulations.
The need for a marriage stamp in a passport: document endorsement
The imprint is affixed immediately after signing the documents at the registry office (marriage or divorce). If at this moment there was no opportunity for these actions, then the stamp is placed immediately after any opportunity for this appears.

If such a situation arises, you need to file an application with the government agency where the incorrect stamp was affixed. Authorized persons are obliged to remove (correct) the error as soon as possible.
The application should be submitted to the head of the department. If illegal actions are detected, you can contact the local police to clarify the circumstances of the case.
If a citizen refuses to correct anything, he has every right to go to court.
If there is no free space for an imprint, authorized employees are required to use strict reporting forms (inserts). Otherwise, there may be legal consequences - penalties.
Citizens of Russia have the right to appeal any action or inaction of authorized persons of a government body or institution. There are also procedural stages such as appeal and cassation in court.
How to put a divorce stamp in your passport in 2021
Today, on the territory of the Russian Federation, the court itself notifies the civil registry office of the fact of divorce. In other words, if you filed an administrative claim in court, it was satisfied and it was decided to dissolve the marriage, then the spouses only have the choice of a convenient registry office department.
If one or both parties indicate as a convenient department the one in which they filed for divorce, then it will take from several hours to three days to notify this department. It will not be possible to speed up this process, since all documents are recorded upon arrival at the registry office and a stamp is placed on this basis.
Permission to divorce: all the intricacies of the divorce process
The question often arises of how to get the desired grade in a shorter time. This option is allowed, but only upon presentation of a court decision that has entered into legal force.
Yes, you can. This trick is often used when trying to hide earlier failed relationships.
A person submits an application for the loss of a passport, and then simply does not apply to the registry office to get a divorce stamp - he “forgets” about it, so the passport remains “clean”.
But this method does not cancel the above points, and the absence of a stamp in the new passport does not eliminate possible difficulties.
The stamp is placed only after the court decision on the dissolution of family relations comes into force. From this moment on, the marriage is considered invalid. The spouses only have to appear in person at the civil registry office, which will be appointed by the court and the most conveniently located local authority, to put a mark.
Usually the required department is notified by the court from several hours to ten days (depending on the location), and citizens can come to get a stamp at any convenient time or during the reception hours of citizens regulated by this department of the registry office.
The divorce process can be simple and quick, or complex and confusing, depending on the circumstances. But putting a stamp on divorce is a simple, democratic and quick thing in this process. All citizens who have divorced their marriage and have a mark on its registration in their passport should be given a divorce stamp.
From October 1, marriage and divorce stamps will no longer be placed in passports.
In any case, in order to put a stamp on a document, you should wait until the divorce certificate is issued, because it is this document that acts as the basis for putting a stamp.
If spouses want to do this immediately after recording the fact of termination of family relations, they need to follow the following procedure:
- personally contact the civil registry office (no need to write an application);
- provide the organization's employees with supporting documents (for example, a court order for divorce, if the process was carried out through it);
- hand over the original of your passport;
- wait for notification of the completion of the procedure.
In any job, incorrect actions are allowed, including among civil registry office employees. Sometimes mistakes are made in the stamp that were not noticed by the marriage office (for example, in the spouse’s full name or wedding date).
In this case, it is necessary to make changes to the passport, adhering to a certain algorithm. First, you need to prepare a package of documents.
The legislation has established that a passport replacement is issued after submitting the following documents:
A mark on the marriage in the passport is placed by the civil registry office that carried out the state registration of the marriage.
If the marriage took place outside the Russian Federation, you must contact the local branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in charge of migration issues to affix the appropriate stamp. A citizen has the right to contact any department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, regardless of his place of permanent residence in Russia.
Where can I change my passport after registering my marriage and when will it be ready? A new passport must be ready within 10 days from the date of receipt of the full package of documents - when applying to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the place of residence, and when applying to another department - after 30 days. If the documents were submitted through the MFC, you should add another 6 days to the specified deadlines for the transfer of documents between it and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
If the passport will take more than two weeks to prepare, it is advisable to obtain a temporary identity card in Form No. 2P.
It can be obtained directly when submitting documents to the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and when submitting documents through the MFC, you must wait until the completed case reaches the internal affairs authorities. To obtain a temporary certificate, you will need another photograph measuring 35 x 45 mm.
You can only receive a completed passport in person. When issuing a document, the employee is obliged to make sure that the person in front of him is the person indicated in the passport and obtain his handwritten signature. If a citizen has been issued a temporary identity card, he will also be required to surrender it. No other documents are required.
A citizen’s actions to legalize his new family status depend on whether he changed his last name upon marriage or left the old one. When changing your last name, you must obtain a new passport; otherwise, you just need to put the corresponding stamp in your passport.
Initially, the seal of the marriage is made by an employee of the civil registry office. It contains all the necessary inscriptions. The use of any other form of imprint is prohibited.
If the passport has been lost or needs to be replaced again upon reaching the age of 20 or 45 years, the stamp will be affixed by employees of the territorial division of the Federal Migration Service.
Both imprints have the same legal force.
Having arrived at the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom hand over their passports to the registry office employee. After registration, they receive the documents back with stamps. Accordingly, the imprint is affixed on the day the marriage is concluded. If for some reason it was not possible to make such a mark simultaneously with the issuance of the certificate, then this will be organized at the first opportunity.
When issuing a new passport, the period ranges from 10 to 30 days. It can be extended only in the presence of extraordinary circumstances.
The stamp itself is free. But before that, for accompanying legal actions, citizens pay a state fee in the following amounts (in rubles):
- 350 - for filing an application for marriage;
- 300 - obtaining a new passport upon reaching the legal age.
The amount may be 1,500 rubles if the identity card was lost or rendered unusable.
The basis for issuing a new main citizen document is:
- reaching the required age;
- change of surname;
- loss or severe damage to the ID.
When issuing a new passport, all existing marks must be transferred there unchanged. Employees of the territorial divisions of the FMS use a special printer for this.
However, there is no strict legal requirement that such a procedure is mandatory. But such a print serves as confirmation of the legality of the union between a man and a woman. The rights and obligations of spouses arise only when all documents are correctly completed.
Therefore, whether it is necessary to put a stamp on marriage registration in a new passport, each person decides for himself based on the level of his legal culture. And he can refuse to print about his marital status.
This is possible due to inattention or for some objective reasons. Therefore, the passport holder needs to contact the head of the registration authority with an application. The head of the civil registry office must consider the application no later than one month and make a decision on the request.
If for any reason the manager refuses, the answer can be appealed in court.

- name of the institution that performed the marriage;
- date of registration;
- information about the spouse (last name, first name, patronymic, date, month and year of birth);
- registration number;
- signature of an authorized person.
Unfortunately, this process will only push back the wedding date, which does not always suit the bride and groom. Therefore, replacement in this case is the best option for resolving the problem.
This obligation has official support: according to paragraph 12 of the Regulations on the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, it is replaced, including due to its unsuitability for future use due to wear, damage or other reasons.

Mandatory or not? The law provides for the use of special inserts sewn into the passport, as well as affixing a stamp on the cover of the document. Some citizens try to hide the fact of marriage by not affixing a stamp. But the absence of a mark in the passport does not give the unscrupulous spouse the right to remarry, since this violates Article 14 of the RF IC.
How long is a passport valid after registering a marriage, when does it need to be changed and how much time is allocated for this? The very fact of registering a marriage does not make the passport invalid, so its replacement is not required. However, if you change your last name, it becomes invalid for 30 days. This rule follows from paragraph 15 of the Regulations on the passport of a citizen of Russia. Therefore, documents for its replacement must be submitted within the specified period.
Documents for passport replacement do not have enough printing space
A state fee of 300 rubles will have to be paid if the passport is received by:
- For the first time or by age;
- Due to a change in data, the appearance of a citizen;
- Errors in the old passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
A state fee of 1,500 rubles is paid if the passport is damaged, lost or stolen.
Time frame for replacing a passport Replacing a person’s identity document is carried out within ten days if the citizen submits documents and an application for a replacement at the place of registration to the territorial office of the FMS.
If a person has a temporary registration or does not have one at all in the territory of this migration service office, then the process of exchanging a passport will take two months. Thus, on the day all documents are accepted, the passport office employee must assign you a day to come pick up your passport.
I think they will just take up the next pages, since I don’t remember such a situation when they changed the passport because there is no space there.

When they first started issuing Russian passports, a friend got married, but for some reason there was no stamp.

There is no space for a stamp on the marital status page of the passport.
Is it possible to apply for marriage registration and then change your passport after registration? Answer If there is no place in the passport for a marriage registration mark (stamp), it is better to replace it, although you have the right to insist on accepting the application and registering the marriage without replacing the passport.

What to do if there is not enough space in your passport for a marriage stamp?
The procedure for replacing a passport There are many reasons why a passport may need to be replaced: marriage, loss, due to age, due to its damage, changes in data. In order to replace it, it is necessary to go through a certain replacement procedure established by law.
The law establishes both the deadlines for obtaining a new passport and penalties for delaying them. Issues of passport control were previously dealt with by the Federal Migration Service, but now it has been abolished, and its functions have been carried out by the corresponding department in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and divisions of the FMS - passport offices - have also remained.
Thus, if the need arises to change your passport, you must contact these authorities with an application and documents confirming your identity. You can find out exactly what documents are needed to obtain a new passport and for what reasons you can replace your passport from this article.

Men can have the same types of marital status listed above. Thus, a man can be married, which means he is in an official, legal marriage. In addition, a man may be unofficially married, that is, in a civil marriage. Also, a man can be single or unmarried. Some people believe that the two concepts have different meanings, but they are synonymous from a legal perspective. Both of these words indicate that the man is not married and has never been married before. In addition to all of the above, there is the concept of “widower,” which is used to denote the status that a man had a wife, but she died.
These are all the possible options for the marital status of men.
Women can have exactly the same statuses as men. Thus, they can be married if their relationship is officially registered, or unmarried if they have never been married before. They may also be in a civil marriage or be a widow. The meanings of these concepts are clear based on the above definitions.

Sometimes people wonder why they need a divorce stamp in their passport. After all, in essence, it simply confirms the fact that the person is no longer married, but in fact does not affect marital status. There are no sanctions for the absence of a divorce certificate or a confirmation stamp in the passport. In fact, it is left to the individual's discretion whether and when to obtain documentary evidence of their new status.
A situation may arise when a person, after a divorce, moved to another city before stamping the divorce in his passport. Previously, to confirm the necessary information, it was necessary to send a request to the registry office that registered the divorce. Now, thanks to the flow of documents between departments, the issue is resolved much easier.
If a person does not have a divorce certificate, but has a court decision, it is enough to go with it and a passport to the registry office at the place of permanent registration. Based on these documents, employees will stamp your passport.
How long is a typical passport valid after marriage registration?
When preparing a new passport, the old one will need to be handed over to employees of the Federal Migration Service. At this moment, the applicant is left without a main document with which to verify the identity of the applicant.
- First you need to determine the type of request. A citizen has the right to personally visit a branch of the Federal Migration Service. Submission of documents is also available through the single portal of state and municipal services State Services.
- If the second option is selected, authorization on the site using a login and password is required.
- A citizen draws up an application based on certain documents. He must rely on information from his previous passport, birth certificates, registration of marriage, divorce, birth of children under 14 years of age, and military ID. A photograph of the established format must be provided or loaded into the appropriate window.
- After checking the data, the application can be transferred to a FMS specialist. In the case of an electronic request, you need to wait for the result of the verification by receiving a letter in your personal account.
- The citizen pays the state fee. A payment receipt form is sent by mail.
- After the invitation has been received, you must appear at the office of the Federal Migration Service. Original documents must be available. If the applicant does not appear within 30 days, the application will be cancelled.
- The document is issued on the appointed date. Only personal receipt of a passport by a citizen is possible.
